Skyscanner, the UK-based travel search business, has been bought by Ctrip, China's biggest online travel firm. The deal values Skyscanner at about £1.4bn ($1.75bn). The firm, which has its headquarters in Edinburgh, is available in more than 30 languages, with about 60 million monthly active users. It was set up to let users compare prices from different travel sites when searching for flights, hotels, and rental cars. Skyscanner said it would continue to run independently, with the same management team.   'Powerful technology' Ctrip was founded in 1999 and is one of China's best-known travel businesses. Samsung came out on Friday with a brief press statement on the Galaxy S7 family meant to reassure owners and potential buyers. The announcement comes after a few reports detailed cases where Galaxy S7 versions exploded or caught fire, reminding people of Samsung’s massive Galaxy Note 7 recall. “Samsung stands behind the quality and safety of the Galaxy S7 family,” Samsung said. “There have been no confirmed cases of internal battery failures with these devices among the more than 10 million devices being used by consumers in the United States; however, we have confirmed a number of instances caused by severe external damage. Russia's communications regulator has started to block LinkedIn in the country after a court ruling found the firm guilty of violating data laws. Roskomnadzor issued a short statement that cited the August decision of the Moscow District Court to block LinkedIn to protect Russian internet users' data. The ruling was upheld by Moscow city court on Nov. 10. In a statement to LinkedIn confirmed the block: “LinkedIn’s vision is to create economic opportunity for the entire global workforce. We are starting to hear from members in Russia that they can no longer access LinkedIn," a spokesperson said. "Roskomnadzor's action to block LinkedIn denies access to the millions of members we have in Russia and the companies that use LinkedIn to grow their businesses.
