Uber can't stop Smiling to the Bank

Image
Indeed, this is the time of the year people cherish the most. As for Uber, New year's Eve has always been the busiest night of the year which means pretty much of the entire world is in need of a designated driver or a quick trip over to their next  social engagement at some point in the night. Importantly, it is pertinent to note that Uber is expected to dish out 300 percent more rides on New Year's Eve than it did last year.It is widely reported that the company is estimated to see a total of 15 million rides on New Year's Eve in the 450 cities it currently operates worldwide Thus, to put this on a wider perspective, Uber said in October that the company has about 40 million active monthly riders.Hence, Uber expect to see nearly 38 percent of its monthly ride volume in one night.(isn't that amazing) Lastly, for Uber's drivers the New Year also means a much bigger chunk of money if they can stay awake and stand in the crowds. However, what makes this year diffe

Snapchat is on a buying Hunt

Image
Indeed, with the company high profit turnover within the last few years, it is no longer surprising to see Snapchat trying to buy companies from drone companies to wearable camera startup among others Importantly, Snapchat is looking at a range of hardware companies to purchase as it aims to create cameras that can take pictures and videos and push them into its social media networks It deserves to be observed that Lily Robotics is one of the drone company approached by Snapchat even though talks was held between both parties, No deals has been reached even though it can't be ruled out in the foreseeable future Essentially, it was reported that Lily Robotics could actually solve Snapchat selfie problem, with Snapchat trying to identify ways for consumers to take hands-free selfies. Thus, Snapchat has also had meeting with startups in the augmented reality and virtual reality markets, with one centered on building cameras to enhance virtual realities

Resident Evil 7 Demo Now Available For PC

Image
A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the PC demo for Resident Evil 7 would be  coming later this month . Granted we’re only a couple of weeks away from the end of December, but you’ll be pleased to learn that the demo  is now available  if you’re interested in checking it out. Better late than never, right? For gamers who are interested, the demo can be download via Steam. It weighs a whopping 3.2 GB so you’ll want to make sure you have enough space on your hard drive, and a relatively fast internet connection otherwise this could take a while. However as pointed out by Rock, Paper, Shotgun, the demo for the PC will be a bit different from the console version. This is because the console version has been out for a while now, and Capcom has from time to time update it with bits and pieces, which unfortunately did not make its way onto the PC demo. It is possible that these bits and pieces could still come, but it seems unlikely, at least not without it feeling too rushed.

Super Mario Run launches on the iPhone and iPad

Image
The app marks the first time the firm has created a smartphone game based on its most famous character. It follows the successful release of Pokemon Go earlier in the year. Nintendo owns a minority stake in the Pokemon Company, but the title was developed by a third party. Experts predict the new game will also prove popular, but suggest an anti-piracy feature is misguided. "Mario is one of the best loved and established icons of gaming and I think this is going to be tremendously successful," said Piers Harding-Rolls from the IHS Technology consultancy. "To open up the full game you have to make an in-app purchase - it's quite big but it is a one-off and I don't think people will think Nintendo is trying to rinse their audience."   Build to unlock Super Mario Run takes the Super Mario Bros format - where the character sprints from left to right, collecting coins, jumping over obstacles and squishing enemies - and tweaks the gameplay to m

Galaxy S8 Rumored To Feature Bluetooth 5.0 Connectivity

Image
About a week ago, it was announced that the Bluetooth 5.0 standard is   now available to manufacturers   who wish to incorporate it into their devices. Version 5.0 represents the latest in the Bluetooth protocol and if the latest rumors are to be believed, Samsung could be the first to take advantage of it. According to a report from   SamMobile , they claim that Samsung could be the first manufacturer to incorporate the technology into their products, starting with the   upcoming Galaxy S8 . The Galaxy S8 is expected to be Samsung’s 2017 flagship and following the failed launch of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung definitely needs a device with killer specs and features to make up for it. So far what we know about Bluetooth 5.0 is that it extends further and is faster than its predecessors. It is said that it has four times the range, two times the speed, and eight times broadcast message capacity. If this is true, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to have accessories that would

Apple Music attracts 20 million subscribers in 18 months

Image
It is important to note that Apple music emphatically said it will continue to tie artiste to exclusive deals, as its number of paid subscribers passes 20 million for the first time Indeed, their popularity has helped reinvigorate the music industry, which recently saw its first big gain in revenue for 20years which is largely due to a 45% increase in streaming revenue with sites like Apple, Deezer, Tidal and spotify charging 10 million pound per month for instant access to millions of songs However, it must be mentioned that they have been criticism of putting albums behind a streaming paywell which can harms fans and also artistes.Notably Kanye West, who said Streaming companies are killing the music industry- despite releasing his own album as an exclusive on Jay Z's Tidal service In the final analysis, the main purpose of streaming companies is undoubtedly to attract new customers- and Apple has gained three million new subscribers in the last 3 months. The tech company s

Microsoft brings back support for music videos to Groove app on Xbox One

Image
Back in August, Microsoft brought a much-requested feature to its Groove music app on the Xbox One, adding support for background music playback. Now, another exciting feature has arrived - but it's actually one that was removed from the app not too long ago. When Microsoft launched the current Groove app on the Xbox One, built on its Universal Windows Platform, it lost a key feature in the form of music videos. But as Windows Central reports, and as a Reddit user spotted a couple of days ago, Microsoft is now bringing that feature back. Unfortunately, the implementation is less than perfect. Only a limited number of songs currently include music video support, and the app doesn't clearly indicate which songs or albums have videos available. In fact, there's no way to know if you can play a video for a song until you actually start listening to it, when a button will appear in the Now Playing view. One other thing to be aware of: the background audio feature w

Apple Will Use Drones To Improve Maps

Image
No less a tech behemoth than Apple is looking to use drones in its own operations, in a move that Bloomberg said seeks to boost the firm’s Maps service. This would be a shot across the location-mapping bow of Google, the newswire said earlier this week. The use of drones was presaged by a filing last September that the firm had made looking for an exemption from the Federal Aviation Administration to bring drones in for commercial use. The FAA granted drone use to Apple earlier in 2016. Thus far, the drones are not allowed to fly above people and buildings, which the newswire stated might limit Apple’s mapping forays “for the time being,” but drones could still be deployed here in the U.S. and with less onerous restrictions in other countries. The firm is also developing indoor mapping capabilities, which would be used to navigate airports, said Bloomberg, and other public spaces, using iPhones. SOURCE

Nintendo Says Two Pokemon Games Set Record

Image
Nintendo Co. said its newest Pokémon games set company records for sales in the Americas. In less than two weeks, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon sold a combined total of 3.7 million units for the Nintendo 3DS game systems, the company said Wednesday in a statement. That makes the titles the company’s fastest-selling yet and represents an 85 percent increase over the previous record, set in 2013, also by Pokémon titles. The Nintendo brand is enjoying a rebound thanks to the surprise hit Pokémon Go, an augmented reality game that came out this summer. The company will release Super Mario Run worldwide for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPad on Dec. 15. SOURCE
