Nintendo Says Two Pokemon Games Set Record

Nintendo Co. said its newest Pokémon games set company records for sales in the Americas.
In less than two weeks, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon sold a combined total of 3.7 million units for the Nintendo 3DS game systems, the company said Wednesday in a statement. That makes the titles the company’s fastest-selling yet and represents an 85 percent increase over the previous record, set in 2013, also by Pokémon titles.
The Nintendo brand is enjoying a rebound thanks to the surprise hit Pokémon Go, an augmented reality game that came out this summer. The company will release Super Mario Run worldwide for Apple Inc.’s iPhone and iPad on Dec. 15.
